When I was in L.A. for a couple of months this winter I went to this art opening at Hope Gallery.  It is run by Cali De Witt who runs Teenage Tear Drops record label which puts out an array of music including No Age and Soiled Mattress and The Springs, etc.

He is also part of RVCA which puts out a free art magazine called ANP Quartely.

Just check this shit out if you are in L.A.

Teenage Teardrops

Jackie has played in 0th for over a year right now and co-wrote 0th “Tammy” out on Resipiscent.  I have been going to her art shows for 3 or 4 years now.  Always outragous.  Most of the work I have seen of hers combines ideas of space, sound, lights, and quilting.  Her endeavours are always on a grand scale and absolutely yield nothing but mind ooze.

I was researching Max MSP patches for sequencing lights and stumbled upon Ali Momeni.  He is a kinetic Sculputer Artist/Composer who teaches of the UofM in Minneapolis.  I reached out to him for some help and then randomly saw him at Lucky Dragons show at Lobot Gallery in Oakland, Ca.  I met him at a bbq in Berkeley…how strange. This is one of my favorite works of his entitled Animal Warmth.

I heard Jean Nipon back in October and my mind leaked out of my skull.  He has an ep out on Institubes.

I met Suzy Poling back in 2004.  She had just moved from Chicago to Oakland.  She is one of my favorite arists.  Her photographs are truly stunning.  She freelances and recently did an unbelievable spread for the September issue of Xlr8tr of Official Tourist fall line “Soft Thug”.

She is also the founding member of Pod Blotz.  Check out her music.  She is a true original.  I saw her play at The Smell in March 2009.  Her music ever evolves and is always amazing. Here is a video of a more recent incarnation of her music.

Also I once jammed with her and it sounded like Alice Cooper. ’nuff said.

Wondersound Ja is the reggae label that is part of Wondersound records who just released MNDR’s new single C.L.U.B. This new riddim record is really really good and has a feature from IzzaKizza.  Check it out!

Mahjonng is literally the best band I have ever seen live.  They are the best band to exist on planet earth, mars,…entire Milky Way Galaxy.  My band Triangle opened up for them back in 2005 in Oakland and I have been a die hard ever since.  Also my bf Caryl (former member of Mahjongg for Raydoncong record on Cold Crush) is now in my band 0th (resipiscent records).  I toured with them in February 2008 for a weekend along with These Are Powers (amazing Brooklyn based band)..it was unreal.  I felt like dipping myself in chalk and rolling around on the ceiling every night.  They were in support of their latest full length Kontpab out on Krecords.  I hope to tour with them sometime in 2009.
